- Call police so an official report can be started.
- Take photos and video of the scene, vehicles, and any hazard, if it is safe.
- Get names and numbers of any witnesses.
In the first days
- See a doctor even if you felt 'okay' — some injuries show up later.
- In Florida, getting care within 14 days can matter for PIP benefits.
- Write down what happened while it is fresh; do not rely only on memory.
- Keep a simple daily note of pain, symptoms, and missed work.
- Report the crash or incident to the right insurer if required.
